How did you start the first time in the import export business?
Hello everyone
This is leo xi from Sundry Wholesale Co., Ltd. I will tell you my story for import export business.
That was 1999, I graduated in Daqing Petroleum College school, which located the north east of china. I study the foreign trade English at school.
Foreign trade is another name for import/export business we Chinese people called. after graduated, i came into to Shenzhen city, it is very hard to find a job in Shenzhen at that time, especially for a fresh bird which just graduated from school, no company want me to work for them just because i don't have any working experience. That is very funny, how could a student who just graduated got working experience? Anyway, three month later, a Hong Kong company informs me to work for them as a shipping clerk finally. The company act as a sourcing agent for abroad client, this job makes me start my career of import/export business.
I have worked as a shipping clerk (3 years), a merchandiser (3 years) and a sales (5 years), I am a sales manager now. I love this career and very appreciate the Hong Kong company give me this opportunity to let me into the industry of import/export business. I have some advice to young people:
- if you just graduated from school, don't eager to compare how much salary you get, calm down, study more technic for your work, that will help a lot in the future.
- as a importer/exporter people, you must be sensitive for the policy and the market, familiar your products. You should know what a product suitable for which market.
- being a sales people, the most character is insist, don't give up, follow your strategy, step by step, you will find your own client.
